Washing workout clothes so the smell actually leaves
Synthetic gym clothes hold onto odor. Wash them inside out, cold, with less detergent and a vinegar rinse, and skip the fabric softener.
Theo Banks, attendant
Performance fabrics trap body oils in the fibers, and warm water plus extra soap can lock the smell in.
Inside out and cold
Turn everything inside out so the water reaches the side that touched your skin, and wash on cold.
Skip softener
Fabric softener coats the fibers and stops them wicking sweat. Use half a cup of white vinegar in the rinse instead.
Air dry or low heat
High heat breaks down stretch fibers. Hang dry, or use our small dryer on low.
